ABOUT DUNE
At Dune Architects, architecture should be in harmony with nature. The relationship between nature and architecture is not just a design choice, but a vital approach to creating spaces that are sustainable, inspiring, and connected to their environment. By embracing natural elements, such as light, air, and local materials, we create buildings that not only respond to their surroundings but also enhance them. Through thoughtful design, we aim to foster a deeper connection between people and nature, promoting well-being, sustainability, and a lasting respect for the environment. Nature is our guide.
ABOUT ME
I’m Dex Weel, raised near the coast, where I’ve always had a strong connection with nature. Windsurfing played a big role in this; the power of the elements and the freedom it offers have shaped my view of the world and my relationship with nature. This experience has taught me to respect the environment and the landscape, and it continues to be a major source of inspiration in my work as an architect. After graduating cum laude from the Academy of Architecture in 2018, I worked at leading firms like MVRDV and NL Architects, where I was able to further develop my craft. Since 2019, I am a guest lecturer at the Academy of Architecture, sharing my knowledge with students, and currently I am a graduation committee. Alongside my work as an architect, I find it important to contribute to education and inspire the next generation of architects.
